The Importance of Grounding

“Grounding” is the act and sensation of energetic attachment to the Earth. When you are Grounded, you feel safe, stable, balanced, supported, and strong.  If you are feeling unstable, unbalanced, forgetful, scattered, or irritated it may be because you are not Grounded.

There are many ways to Ground yourself.  You can go outside and stand in the grass or dirt. You can lie down on your bed or floor and imagine yourself sinking deep into the Earth. Eating healthy foods, working in the garden, and standing in a balanced fashion are all activities that help you to feel Grounded.  Try a few different methods to see what works best for you.

The Grounding exercise that I use habitually is called a Grounding Cord.  It only takes 5 minutes and once you learn and practice it you’ll be able to do it in a matter of seconds.

The Grounding Cord that you envision during this exercise can be made out of anything you want – it’s YOUR Grounding Cord!  It could be a thick rope, a golden chain, a pillar of light, or a waterfall. The point is that this Grounding Cord creates a connection between you and the Earth.

Once you are Grounded, you will naturally start to flush out unwanted energies from your body and aura.  This could be energy of your own or it could be energy that you’ve absorbed from other people.  You can increase the movement and flushing of the energy merely by imagining it moving down the Grounding Cord, away into the Earth.

We are all empathic or sensitive to other people’s energy – some of us more than others. Just like we wash our hands on a regular basis, this energy needs to be cleaned out so that we can avoid getting overloaded with other people’s energy and nurture the best, highest, most powerful vibrations.

Grounding yourself habitually throughout the day can help with social anxiety, exhaustion, and feelings of irritation and frustration with other people.  It can be especially for those who consider themselves introverts or who work in the service industry where other people’s problems can easily feel like their problem.

There is another super power benefit to Grounding:  It allows you to better manifest your desires in the material world.  You are a spirit having a human experience.  The human experience means you’re working within the rules of the laws of physics, among other phenomena.  Even the most spiritual people need to be Grounded enough to make things happen in the human material world.

There’s even a full documentary on the benefits of grounding! It’s called “The Earthing Movie: The Remarkable Science of Grounding” and can be found on Youtube.

Give Grounding a try for the next week and see how it feels.
